Tianwan Nuclear Plant surpasses annual power output target

Shanghai. December 20. INTERFAX-CHINA - Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant in Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province surpassed its annual power output target of 14 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) after producing 15 billion kWh as of Dec. 14, the provincial government said on Dec. 18. According to the Jiangsu government, the plant's two reactors were constructed by Russia's Atomstroyexport and have an installed capacity of 1.06 million kilowatts (kW) each. The plant has been in operation since 2006.

The plant's owner China National Nuclear Corp. (CNNC) said that the plant has room for an additional six reactors which would expand the plant's annual power generation capacity to between 60 to 70 billion kWh and its installed capacity to between 8 million and 10 million kW.
