China now home to 850 mln mobile subscribers - MIIT
Shanghai. December 21. INTERFAX-CHINA - The number of mobile phone users in China rose by 103.07 million in the first 11 months of 2010 to reach 850.29 million, according to figures released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Dec. 21.
Over the same period, 751.85 billion text messages were sent, up 6.8 percent year-on-year, while the number of fixed-line subscribers dropped by 15.39 million to 298.34 million.
Broadband Internet subscribers rose 20.91 million from end-2009 to hit 124.89 million.
China's telecom industry clocked revenue of RMB 2.82 trillion ($423.6 billion) over the period, up 20.6 percent year-on-year.
The tables below list major indicators for China's telecom industry, including the number of telecom service subscribers in the country, with a breakdown of fixed-line telephone and mobile subscribers by province as of Nov. 30, 2010.
