Foxconn Chengdu factory targets iPad output of 40 mln in 2011

Shanghai. December 28. INTERFAX-CHINA - Foxconn Technology Group (Foxconn) expects the output of Apple Inc's iPad tablet computer from its factory in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, to reach 40 million units next year, state media reported Dec. 28.

Guo Taiming, president of Foxconn, told the National Business Daily that the factory will produce 100 million units in 2013,

Foxconn invested $10 million in setting up the factory, which began operations on Oct. 22. It has 52 dedicated iPad production lines, according to the report.

Apple sold 4.19 million iPads in its fourth fiscal quarter ending Sep. 25, according to the company's 2010 annual report.

Hong Kong Stock Exchange-listed Foxconn posted $3.23 billion in revenue for the first half (H1) of 2010. Its shares closed at HKD 5.38 ($0.69) after morning trading on Dec. 28, down 0.55 percent from the previous trading day.
