Scope of financial irregularities uncovered in Moscow calls for further inquiry - Audit Chamber chief

MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - The Russian Audit Chamber plans to prolong its inquiries into the operations of the Moscow metro, Mosgortrans and Mosenergo, as well as the spending of money allocated for road construction in the capital.

"The situation is complex. We have uncovered such a large number of financial irregularities that we will have to prolong these inquiries," Audit Chamber Chairman Sergei Stepashin told Interfax on Tuesday.

"We will announce the first results of the checks today, but we will have to extend them," Stepashin said.

"It is time to involve law enforcement services. Documents containing the first results of the checks will be forwarded to appropriate structures," he said.
