Shanghai. December 30. INTERFAX-CHINA - The Shenfu Dongsheng coalfield, China's largest coal-producing base, boosted its annual output to 205 million tons, according to its operator, China Shenhua Group, on Dec. 30.

Located on the borders between Shaanxi and Shanxi Provinces and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the field covers an area of 1,136 square kilometers, Shenhua said.

Of the field's 17 operational coalmines, seven have an annual coal production capacity over 10 million tons.

The field started production in the 1980s and saw its annual coal output hit 100 million tons for the first time in 2005, the company said.

Shenhua said the field is among the seven-largest coal-producing bases in the world.
