Taobao's registered users reach 370 mln in 2010
Shanghai. January 7. INTERFAX-CHINA - Taobao.com, China's largest online retail platform, announced Jan. 6 that its registered user base reached 370 million by the end of 2010.
Taobao's peak traffic day last year saw 60 million unique users log on while the record transaction volume for one day was RMB 1.95 billion ($294.1 million), according to the announcement.
The company's mobile online shopping platform also performed well, with 17 million users on its busiest day and a peak transaction volume of RMB 37 million ($5.58 million).
Taobao led China's online business-to-consumer (B2C) and consumer-to-consumer (C2C) shopping market with a 75.3 percent share by transaction volume as of the end of September last year, according to Chinese Internet consultancy Analysys International.
Taobao spun off its B2C platform into a new Web site called Taobao Mall on Nov. 1 last year, Interfax previously reported.
