Dollar posts minor gains, euro plummets on MICEX at start of trading on Tues
MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar posted slight gains at the start of trading on the MICEX on Tuesday while the euro declined significantly following its performance on the Forex. The Russian ruble stepped up its position against the Central Bank's bi-currency basket (set at 0.45 euro and $0.55).
The dollar opened Tomorrow trading on the MICEX at around 30.6-30.73 rubles, which was three to 16 kopecks above its close on December 30, 2010 and around 30 kopecks above its official rate.
The euro opened MICEX trades at 39.7-39.8 rubles/EUR1, which is 90-100 kopecks below its close at the end of 2010 and 70-80 kopecks beneath its current official rate.
The bi-currency basket held around 34.8 rubles during the first minutes of trading, which was 30 kopecks below its close on December 30.
