Ukrainian steel majors boost output in 2010
KYIV. Jan 11 (Interfax) - Most of Ukraine's biggest steel mills boosted finished roll production in 2010.
ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih (formerly Kryvorizhstal), the country's biggest steel mill, said it raised finished roll production tentatively 19% to 5.367 million tonnes.
Azovstal increased roll output 23.3% to 5.288 million tonnes, and the Ilich works from Mariupol raised it 29.2% to 3.982 million tonnes.
Zaporizhstal increased roll output 3.6% to 2.846 million tonnes, but the Alchevsk Iron & Steel Works, a member of the Industrial Union of Donbass (IUD) group, cut roll output 19.6% to 2.673 million tonnes, and IUD's Dzerzhinsky Metallurgical Combine (DMK) cut it 20.8% to 2.608 million tonnes.

Ukraine's steel industry as a whole boosted finished roll output 9% in 2010 to 29.197 million tonnes, the Dnipropetrovsk-based Metallurgprom association said. Crude steel production jumped 10% to 32.726 million tonnes and pig iron grew 7% to 27.354 million tonnes.
