Cargo turnover at Russian ports up 5.9% in 2010
MOSCOW. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Cargo turnover at Russia's seaports in 2010 rose 5.9% to 525.85 million tonnes, the Association of Commercial Seaports said in a statement.
The ports handled 211.5 million tonnes of dry cargo, 6.6% more than in 2009, including 68.7 million tonnes of coal (4.9% more), 32.9 million tonnes of container cargo (30.1% more), 12.74 million tonnes of mineral fertilizers (23.9% more) and 6.59 million tonnes of forest products (9.1% more). Liquid cargo increased 5.5% to 314.35 million tonnes, including 209.5 million tonnes of crude oil (3.7% more) and 103.06 million tonnes of refined product (9.5% more).
Russia's seaports handled 404.19 million tonnes of exports (up 5%), 39.34 million tonnes of imports (up 44%), 45.96 million tonnes of transit cargo (up 2.7%) and 36.35 million tonnes of coastal cargo (up 7.5%).
Cargo turnover in the northwestern region was little changed at 227.6 million tonnes, including 82.77 million tonnes of dry cargo (9.6% more) and 144.8 million tonnes of liquid cargo (2% less).
