Huaneng Dongying Hekou wind farm begins constructing new phases

Shanghai. January 19. INTERFAX-CHINA - The Huaneng Dongying Hekou wind power farm in Dongying City, Shandong Province began construction of its third and fourth phases, a representative with Huaneng Dongying Hekou Fengli Fadian Co. Ltd., the project's operator, told Interfax on Jan. 19.

The new phases will boost the farm's installed power capacity by 100 megawatts (MW) and cost approximately RMB 1.1 billion ($166.16 million), according to the company representative, who asked to remain anonymous.

The expansion work is set to be completed by the end of this year and will allow the 300 MW farm to generate around 400 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year, the source said.

The wind farm began operating in 2010. The first two phases have a combined installed capacity of 200 MW and have produced 170 million kWh of electricity to date.
