Explosion at CNPC refinery in Liaoning injures 30 workers

Shanghai. January 19. INTERFAX-CHINA - An explosion at China National Petroleum Corp.'s (CNPC) Fushun Petrochemical plant in Liaoning Province on the morning of Jan. 19 injured more than 30 workers, state media reported on the same day.

The explosion occurred after a catalytic cracker caught fire, according to Xinhua news agency.

The fire has been contained and no deaths were reported, according to Xinhua.

According to CNPC's Web site, the petrochemical complex is undergoing expansion work to boost its annual refining capacity to 11.50 million tons by August.
