Samruk-Energo projects 14.9 billion tenge net profit in 2010

ASTANA. Jan 19. (Interfax) - JSC Samruk-Energo expects the 2010 net profit at 14.9 billion tenge against the actual loss of 2.7 billion tenge in 2009, the company's press office said in a statement.

"The profit growth was mainly due to the increase in power generation, sales of coal and the overall economic recovery," the company said.

JSC Samruk-Energo generated 12.685 million kWh of electricity, or a y-o-y increase of 9%.

Coal production totaled 38.8 million tons, or a y-o-y rise of 15.1%. The increase in coal production was triggered by growing demand from thermal power plants.

"Samruk-Energo", JSC was founded in May, 2007. The company is one of the largest subsidiaries of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund.
