Security stepped up at Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo airports

MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax) - Security has been stepped up at Moscow airports, the Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo airports told Interfax on Monday

"Due to the incident at Domodedovo Airport, the airports have been put on high alert and have also introduced additional security measures," Vnukovo spokeswoman Yelena Krylova told Interfax.

All luggage and hand luggage is being inspected at the airport, she said. "We are checking 100% of all hand luggage and all luggage of the airport's passengers arriving both by ground transport and by the Aeroexpress train," Krylova added.

"The airport has been put on a high terror alert, which involves a whole set of security measures," Krylova added.

Also, all technical security systems have been activated, she said. "Particular attention is being paid to inspecting images from video cameras installed at the airport terminals," Krylova said.

The Vnukovo Airport is ready to land flights diverted from Domodedovo, she said.

Similar measures have been taken at Sheremetyevo airport, the airport spokesperson said.
