Medvedev orders officials in charge of transport security be held accountable

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has ordered the government, the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Interior Ministry to hold to account officials in charge of security measures at transportation hubs.

"Today I instruct the interior minister to suggest which ministry officials responsible for transport security could be dismissed or could face other sanctions," Medvedev said at a session of the FSB board.

The Cabinet will have to "consider holding to account officials in charge of transport security inside the government," he said.

"The administration of the FSB has been ordered to assess the responsibility of certain officials within the service. I instruct the FSB director to forward appropriate suggestions," Medvedev said.
