Dollar drops steadily in first minutes of MICEX trading

MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar posted steady losses in the first minutes of trading on Thursday on the MICEX, hitting its lowest point in three months. The euro posted minor losses. The Russian ruble went up slightly against the Central Bank's bi-currency basket after an upward correction in world oil prices.

The dollar opened at 29.6 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow trades on the MICEX and held around 29.65-29.68 rubles, which is seven kopecks below its close yesterday and 10-13 below the dollar's official rate.

The euro held around 40.65-40.67 rubles/EUR1, down one to three kopecks below its closing on Wednesday and five to seven kopecks below the current official rate.

The bi-currency basket (set at $0.55 and 0.45 euro) came to 34.61 rubles at the start of MICEX trading, which is five kopecks below its close on Wednesday.
