Lavrov, EU foreign ministers discuss Russia's WTO accession, visa-free travel
MOSCOW. Sept 21 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has discussed Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and visa-free travel with the foreign ministers from the European Union countries (in the one plus 27 format) and with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton in New York.
"The parties touched upon a number of issues regarding the EU-Russian relations, including Russia's accession to the WTO, the strengthening of the mechanisms of political dialogue, steps toward visa-free travel between Russia and the EU, and cooperation in crisis management," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
"The meeting focused on the pressing international issues, including the situation in Libya, Syria and Yemen, as well as the situation in the Middle East peace process," it said.
