Nevinnomyssk Azot to start up carbamide production on Sept 30 - Sechin

NEVINNOMYSSK. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Mineral fertilizer producer OJSC Nevinnomyssk Azot , based in Nevinnomyssk in the Stavropol Territory, will produce its first shipment of carbamide on September 30, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin told journalists on Thursday during a working visit to the Territory.

Sechin said that carbamide is necessary for the production a melamine. Production of melamine will be set up at Nevinnomyssk Azot by March 2012.

Sechin also said that the enterprise has earmarked 7 billion rubles in investment for the construction of a melamine production unit. The company expects the unit to produce up to 50,000 tonnes of melamine. Russia currently imports around 35,000 tonnes of this product annually.

"This will entirely cover Russia and the CIS's demand [for melamine] and relieve us from imports," Sechin said.

Nevinnomyssk Azot is a producer of mineral fertilizers and organic synthesis goods.
