Total transactions on Georgian Stock Exchange fall 81% in 2011
TBILISI. Jan 17 (Interfax) - Total transactions on the Georgia Stock Exchange came to 19.3 million lari (1.6716/$1 on January 17, 2012), which was an 81% decrease from 2010, the exchange told Interfax.
A total of 1,281 transactions were closed (a decrease of 60%) with 102.43 million shares (down 94%).
During 2011 trading sessions, 860 transactions were closed (down 25.7%) worth 2.5 million lari (down 50%) with 12.078 shares (down 70.5%).
A total of 421 deals in non-exchange trades in accordance with fixing were made (down 50%) worth 16.8 million lari (down 82%) with 90.353 million shares (down 95%).
Total transactions of the Georgian Stock Exchange went up by 2.3% to 101.2 million lari in 2010. A total of 3,207 transactions were closed with 1.7056 billion shares in the previous year.
The Georgian Stock Exchange was founded in 1999 and is the sole stock market organization in the country.
