Magnitsky law won't create problems for Russia business in U.S. - Mordashov

LOS CABOS. June 19 (Interfax) - The "Magnitsky law," which the U.S. could pass in the nearest future, will not reflect on Russian-U.S. business relations, Severstal CEO Alexei Mordashov said,

"The increase in mutual ties is an additional factor in stabilizing political relations. The more mutual investment, the more economic relations, the more stable are the political relations and the relations at the level of the two countries' communities. I don't think we can expect any problems for Russian businesses," Mordashov told reporters responding to a question as to whether the adoption of the "Magnitsky law" may create problems to Russian businessmen.

As for Severstal, the company sees interest and demand in the U.S., he said.

"We have received a number of tax concessions. There is no biased or negative attitude to us in the U.S. I think it's due to the fact that there is a long history of world politics and world economy, and people are very mature and understand that political problems come and go, but fundamental business interests stay," Mordashov said.
