Russia may increase fines for selling alcohol to minors

MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - The State Duma will hold the first reading of a bill toughening liability for selling alcohol to children on Wednesday.

The document proposes to dramatically increase the fine for this violation to 30,000 rubles to 50,000 rubles for citizens (now 3,000 rubles to 5,000 rubles), 100,000 rubles to 200,000 rubles for officials (now 10,000 rubles to 20,000 rubles), and 300,000 rubles to 500,000 rubles for legal entities (now 80,000 rubles to 100,000 rubles).

The State Duma will also hold the first hearing of the bill On Advertisement, which provides that advertisements of alcohol-containing products, including beer, should not be posted on Internet sites registered as media organizations.
