German doctor returns to Kharkiv to treat Tymoshenko

KHARKIV. June 21 (Interfax) - Doctor Annette Reisshauer from the Charite clinic in Berlin has arrived at the central clinic hospital N5 in Kharkiv to continue the treatment of Ukraine's ex-prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

The German doctor arrived in Kharkiv on Thursday afternoon, an Interfax correspondent said.

Kyiv's Pechersky District Court found Tymoshenko guilty of abuse of office in concluding a gas supply deal with Russia in 2009 and sentenced her to 7 years in prison on October 11, 2011.

A court of appeals later upheld this sentence. The Ukrainian Higher Special Court for Civil and Criminal Cases postponed a hearing of Tymoshenko's and her defense team's appeal against her conviction to June 26, motivating this by Tymoshenko's absence in the courtroom for health reasons.

Tymoshenko has been serving her 7-year prison term at a Kharkiv-based penitentiary since the end of 2011. At the present time, she is receiving medical treatment at Central Clinical Hospital No. 5 in Kharkiv, which belongs to the Ukrainian Railway company.

Reisshauer earlier treated the ex-prime minister in May.
