Nonprofit Partnership RTS confirms Goryunov as president

MOSCOW. July 9 (Interfax) - Members of Nonprofit Partnership RTS on Monday confirmed Roman Goryunov as the partnership's president, an Interfax correspondent reports from the meeting.

Goryunov was the only candidate. The board of directors nominated him on July 4.

Reports that Goryunov would leave the MICEX-RTS exchange to join NP RTS emerged after reports that the shareholders of the merged exchange plan replace CEO Ruben Aganbegian with Alexander Afanasyev.

Goryunov left MICEX-RTS, where he held the post of senior managing director and first deputy CEO, on July 1. Prior to the merger of the exchanges, Goryunov was head of the RTS exchange, which he joined in 2001, and created the RTS futures market. Earlier, from 1994, he worked at the St. Petersburg Stock Exchange.

It was reported earlier that NP RTS intends to increase its stake in OJSC St. Petersburg Exchange from 20% to 60% and launch a number of services and products on the exchange that currently are not available on the Russian stock market, and plans to develop RTS Board.

The chairman of NP RTS and chairman of the supervisory board at the Alor group, Anatoly Gavrilenko said earlier that the partnership is considering setting up a water exchange and might launch futures on the weather, which Goryunov tried to do at RTS for several years.

One source told Interfax that the board on Wednesday heard a report on the possibility of setting up a water exchange, and decided to set up a committee to work on this issue in greater detail.

The board also decided to set up a committee for regional development. "This is an attempt to find synergy between MICEX-RTS and brokers. The idea of the regional development committee's work is for the exchange to delegate representative authority to brokers in regions where the exchange does not have representative offices," he said.
