Ukraine to require at least 5% bioethanol content in gasoline starting in 2014
KYIV. July 18. (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a law regulating the bioethanol content in motor gasoline produced and sold in Ukraine.
Parliament adopted law 4970-VI 'On the introduction of changes to several Ukrainian laws on the production and use of motor fuels with biocomponent content' on June 20, 2012.
According to the document, a recommended standard for bioethanol content in gasolines of 5% will be introduced in 2013. However, in 2014-2015 this bioethanol content level will become mandatory, after which, in 2016, the content level will be raised to 7%. The rule applies to both gasolines produced within Ukraine and those that are imported.
The draft law also stipulates that the list of enterprises with the right to produce fuel blends will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers upon submission by the Energy and Coal Ministry.
