Russian stock market opens with losses, RTS and MICEX down 0.8%
MOSCOW. July 23 (Interfax) - The Russian stock market opened on Monday with losses for blue chips owing to worsening external market trends because of worries regarding Greece, Spain, and China. The RTS and MICEX indexes slumped by 0.8% in the first minute of trading.
By 10:01 am Moscow time, the MICEX had decreased by 0.8% to 1,402.44 points while the RTS had declined by 0.8% to 1,380.37 points. Ruble-based benchmarks decreased within 1.6% on the MICEX-RTS.
Decliners at the start of trades included VTB , down 1.6%, Gazprom - 0.5%, Gazprom Neft - 0.7%, Lukoil - 0.6%, NOVATEK - 1.1%, MMC Norilsk Nickel - 1%, Polyus Gold - 0.5%, Rosneft - 0.5%, Rostelecom - 0.7%, Sberbank Russia - 1.3%, Surgutneftegas - 1.3%, Tatneft - 1.1%, and Federal Grid Company UES - 1.3%.
