Ukrainians most proud of state language, least proud of national currency - poll

KYIV. Aug 23 (Interfax) - The state Ukrainian language is the most revered attribute of independent Ukraine, judging by a joint poll of the Razumkov Center and the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation.

Thirty-six percent of Ukrainian citizens are proud of the state language, and 55% perceive it positively, the newspaper Zerkalo Nedeli. Ukraine said. The total number is 91%.

Five percent have negative feelings and 3% want a different state language.

The number of people proud of the national yellow and blue flag has grown from 26% last year to 38% now. Only 1% has negative feelings, and another 1% wishes Ukraine would have a different flag.

Less people are proud of the national emblem (36%). Fifty-eight percent have positive feelings, 4% feel negative, and 3% want a different national emblem.

Thirty percent are proud of the national anthem (23% last year), and 53% have positive feelings. Six percent feel negative, and 7% want a different anthem (12% last year).

The least number is proud of the national currency. Twenty-three percent are proud of the hryvnia. Sixty-seven percent have positive feelings, 3% feel negative, and 2% would like Ukraine to have a different national currency. The correlation did not change much since last year.
