Chechnya, Ingushetia must be separated by administrative border - Kadyrov

GROZNY. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Chechen authorities are going to raise the subject of establishing an administrative border between the Republic and Ingushetia at federal level.

The matter was discussed at a meeting with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, his and Chechen government's press office said.

"The meeting attendees have informed that officials in Ingushetia are taking steps aimed not only at statutory recognition in the territories which were deliberately left by the Chechen authorities as inter-republican ones, but also seizing new lands by wedging deeper into the Chechen Republic," the statement said.

"(Chechnya) still values the friendship and fraternal relations with the Ingush people but has to start delimitating the administrative border between the two republics in accordance with the law," Kadyrov said. "This, on contrary, will strengthen the neighborly relations and rule out the possibility of the border being moved," the Chechen leader said.

"I shall raise the question of establishing an administrative border between the republics at federal level. If the two republics, the two federal regions disagree, there really has to be a clear border between them. This is necessary for economy, for taxation, for law enforcement and environment protection activities," Kadyrov said.
