Samara opposition plans 1,000-strong rally on Sept 15
SAMARA. Aug 31 (Interfax) - Opposition activists in the city of Samara applied on Friday morning for holding a demonstration and rally on September 15, one of the organizers Alexander Lashmankin told Interfax.
"We are planning to hold a demonstration and rally on September 15. We have two itineraries, both start from the 21st Army Heroes Square, but one ends near the Sports Palace and the other at the square near Maslennikov Plant," Lashmankin said.
The event is due to begin at 5 p.m., he said.
It was reported that on Friday morning Moscow opposition filed a similar application for a thousands-strong protest on September 15.
March of Millions protests are expected to take place in more than 50 Russian cities on September 15.
The event will be held under slogans "For an honest, legitimate power" and "For early parliamentary and presidential elections." The opposition will also call for an end to persecution of political activists and a release of political prisoners.
