European Commission has not officially notified Russia of proceedings against Gazprom - envoy

BRUSSELS. Sept 6 (Interfax) - Russia has not received any specific accusations in documentary form regarding Gazprom's alleged anti-trust violations on the European market, Russian permanent envoy to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov told Interfax in Brussels on Thursday.

"The proceedings of which the European Commission announced the day before yesterday are obviously in line with its earlier decisions. About a year ago, documents were seized from a number of Gazprom's subsidiaries and affiliates. These are apparently links of the same chain," he said.

"The European Commission has so far not informed us as the permanent representation office and, as far as I know, the Russian authorities of anything. I expect to receive explanations on this situation at a meeting next week with European Commissioner [for Competition] Joaquin Almunia, who governs the European Union's antitrust institutions," Chizhov said.
