VCSP ups cargo-handling 9.6% in Jan-Aug
VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 11 (Interfax) - OJSC Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port (VCSP) , part of the FESCO transportation group, transshipped 4.716 million tonnes of cargo in January-August, 9.6% more year-on-year, the stevedore's press service said.
That included 2.231 million tonnes of liquid, bulk, and other general cargoes (with the exclusion of containers and imported automobiles and automotive technology).
Container-handling at the port amounted to 301,238 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units), a 9.5% year-on-year increase. And the port transshipped 53,075 automobiles and units of equipment.
The port processed 19,326 tonnes of various types of cargo and 263 railcars on average per day during the eight months.
VCSP is the largest stevedoring company at the Vladivostok port in Russia's Far East. LLC M-Port owns 95.6% of shares in the company. In early August 2011, a pool of private investors organized by VTB Capital bought 50% of M-Port from the port's management on behalf of FESCO. The other 50% of M-Port is owned by Far East Shipping Company , the FESCO group's flagship company.
