ADB forecasts GDP growth in Georgia at 6% for 2012

TBILISI. Oct 5 (Interfax) - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) confirmed its April forecast on Georgian economic growth in 2012 at 6% and at 6.3% for 2013.

A new Asian Development Outlook report, looking at the outlook for various countries in Asia and former Soviet states, predicts inflation of 2.1% in Georgia this year, compared to the 4.8% forecast in its April 2012 report.

ADB still predicts inflation will be 6.2% in 2013.

The balance of payments deficit, which was forecast at 12.5% of GDP previously, is now expected to be 11.1% and 10.1% in 2013 (12% in the April Outlook).

The Georgian government in May raised its GDP forecast for 2012 to 6% from 5%. The International Monetary Fund and the World Bank forecast GDP growth of 6% in 2012, while the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development says it will be 5.5%

GDP climbed 7% in 2011.
