Samutsevich objects to Pussy Riot commercialization
MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Yekaterina Samutsevich, a Pussy Riot punk band member with a suspended sentence, does not want Pussy Riot to become a brand.
"We are not a commercial band; we are against commerce and do not want Pussy Riot to become a brand," she told the Ekho Moskvy radio on Friday.
The situation needs to be resolved, Samutsevich said. "What shall we do about people who decide to make Pussy Riot vodka or some other product?" she wondered.
Pussy Riot "will not restrict anyone's ideas" but the musicians will not use their popularity to make money, she said.
Samutsevich also said she was unwilling to give autographs to her fans and supporters.
Popularity is harmful for the Pussy Riot concept, the singer said. "Actually, this is harmful for the band concept. Three girls, their biographies and families, have become known to the public. We see this situation as a problem; we will be balancing between anonymity and publicity," Samutsevich said.
