Man dies of injuries after gas explosion in Yekaterinburg
YEKATERINBURG. Oct 15 (Interfax) - One of the six people injured in a gas explosion in an apartment on Onezhskaya Street in Yekaterinburg died in a local hospital.
"A gas service employee, Vasily Lavrik, aged 35, died of the injuries sustained in the explosion without regaining consciousness. He had a severe skull-brain trauma," Valery Gorelykh, the official spokesman for the Sverdlovsk Region Interior Department, has told Interfax.
An investigation has been launched.
The victims are three gas repair workers, the apartment owner and two neighbors who were hospitalized with severe burns.
The blast reportedly occurred during gas repairs.
Earlier reports said that a gas explosion ripped through the second floor of a nine-storey building on Monday afternoon, injuring six people.
