Nazarbayev orders Kazakh law enforcers to step up cooperation with Central Asian partners

ASTANA. Nov 14 (Interfax) - The Kazakh Security Council has discussed intensive suppression of terrorism, religious extremism and drug trafficking at a meeting chaired by President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the presidential press service reported on Wednesday.

"The regional situation and possible scenarios linked with the pullout of the main part of coalition forces from Afghanistan in 2014 require bigger attention to these threats," the report said.

Hence, the president ordered Kazakh law enforcement agencies to step up their interaction with partners from Central Asian countries, it said.

Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov and Syrbar Foreign Intelligence Service Director Amanzhol Zhankuliev informed the president about problems in the provision of regional security in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
