Coca-Cola plans to build $30 mln factory in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE. Nov 26 (Interfax) - The Coca-Cola Company, the world's largest producer of soft drinks, is going to build a $30-million factory in Tajikistan, the country's State Investments Committee reported.

"Representatives of The Coca-Cola Company believe that the investment climate in Tajikistan has become favorable, the newest reforms are being implemented rapidly, and the company has decided to invest $30 million in the construction of its first factory for producing non-alcoholic products," according to a statement summing up the results of a meeting between representatives of Coca-Cola and Tajikistan's State Investments Committee.

The factory will already be up and running next year, a Coca-Cola representative said.

It is not clear exactly where Coca-Cola will build its first factory in Tajikistan.

Over the next decade, Coca-Cola's investments in developing the Tajik market will reach $90 million, the State Investments Committee said.

"A working group, which was created from among employees of our agency and the company Coca-Cola, should accelerate the process of starting the company's work in Tajikistan, for which the necessary documents are currently being worked out," the statement said.
