Ukrainian iron ore mines raise pellet output in 11M

KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax) - Most Ukrainian mining companies raised iron ore pellet production in January-November 2012.

Poltava Mining, the core asset of the London-listed Ferrexpo plc, reduced commercial pellet production 2% year-on-year to 8.789 million tonnes, but raised concentrate production 2.7% to 10.778 million tonnes.

But the Metinvest holding's Northern Mining and Beneficiation Plant, from Kryviy Rih, told Interfax that it raised commercial pellet production 1.9% year-on-year in January-November to 9.479 million tonnes. Iron ore concentrate output grew 1.6% to 13.407 million tonnes.

Metinvest's Central Mining, also from Kryviy Rih, raised commercial pellet production 3.2% year-on-year to 2.069 million tonnes, and concentrate production rose 2.5% to 5.802 million tonnes.

Metinvest also runs Inhulets Mining, which saw iron ore concentrate output fall 4% year-on-year in January-November to 12.371 million tonnes.
