TNK-BP to invest $7 bln in Rospan project by 2040
MOSCOW. Jan 21 (Interfax) - Total TNK-BP investment in the Rospan project by 2040 will amount to over $7 billion, the TNK-BP website says.
In 2012, the company doubled investment in Rospan to $233 million. Rospan output last year amounted to 3.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas, according to the preliminary figures.
By 2020, Rospan will be producing 16 bcm. The company press service told Interfax that figure is in the base scenario for achieving peak production at Rospan.
The vice president of the TNK-BP division Yamal-Gas, Viktor Blagoveschensky, said not long ago that TNK-BP reckons a plateau of 16.5 bcm of gas will be reached in 2017-2024. Expectations are that in 2014 the project could move to output of 4 bcm and in 2015 to about 8.5 bcm.
The company has also worked out an optimistic scenario, according to which Rospan production could rise to 14 bcm in 2016 and to a plateau of 16.5 bcm in 2017, and hold there until 2024.
Blagoveschensky said that the prospects for Rospan development depend on the timeliness and efficiency of its development, the drilling and commissioning of new wells, and agreement with Gazprom on putting gas into the gas-transport system. "Today we have the technical basis for putting into the Gazprom system. As you recall, that is agreement on gas deliveries until 2013. Talks are underway on prolonging deliveries. But this is a commercial matter, and I am not prepared to comment on it," he said.
As reported, the Federal Natural Resources Oversight Service (Rosprirodnadzor) has turned up violations by CJSC Rospan International at the Vostochno-Urengoyskoye gas condensate deposit, and is now reviewing the issued directives. The first one is to be fulfilled by November 1 this year.
Rospan is one of TNK-BP's new projects, the carrying out of which should make an important contribution to company oil production.
Rospan International is developing the Vostochno-Urengoyskoye and Novo-Urengoyskoye fields in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, where gas production currently totals around 3.2 billion cubic meters. TNK-BP estimates Rospan gas reserves at from 600 billion to 1 trillion m3.
