Georgia will not ask Russian experts to control wine quality
TBILISI. Jan 30 (Interfax) - The Georgian delegation is not going to ask the Russian authorities to control the quality of Georgian wine in the negotiations on the resumption of the supply of Georgian products to the Russian market scheduled to take place in Moscow on February 4.
"If the Russian authorities wish to become familiar with our exported products quality control system, we won't create any obstacles to that and Russian experts will be able to come to Georgia and see the whole process," Levan Davitashvili, the head of the Georgian National Wine Agency and the head of the Georgian delegation, told reporters on Wednesday.
The delegation is going to Moscow to explain the Georgian product quality control and convince the Russian colleagues that control is exercised properly, he said.
"However, we did not say we are going there to ask [Russian experts] to control quality," Davitashvili said.
The Georgian authorities are open because they have nothing to hide and Russian experts can become familiar with certification and regulation of the quality of Georgian wine and other products in detail, he said.
"We will state this position in Moscow that we are ready to meet with Rospotrebnadzor officials and show everything. We have a lot to show in this industry," Davitashvili said.
Some media reported on Wednesday that the Georgian authorities will suggest that the Russian authorities control the quality of products to be supplied to the Russian market, including wine.
