Gazprom to supply fuel to VW Motorsport team
MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - Gazprom will be the exclusive supplier of gas motor fuel for the Volkswagen Motorsport team, which is participating in the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup, the world's only one-make natural gas motor race.
Gazprom reported that the director of Gazprom Germania GmbH, Vyacheslav Krupenkov, and Volskwagen board member, Ulrich Hackenberg, signed an agreement Monday making Gazprom the exclusive gas fuel supplier for Volkswagen Motorsport form May 2013.
The Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup championship will have 25 participants and nine races will be held in 2013.
Gazprom is represented on the European gas motor fuel market through subsidiaries Gazprom Germania GmbH and Vemex. Gazprom Germania GmbH added another four to its two automobile CNG filling stations in Germany in 2012. By 2015 it hopes to increase the number to 15. Vemex owns 6 automobile CNG filling stations in the Czech Republic, four of which were acquired in 2012. Gas was also supplied to two CNG filling statiosn belonging to other companies. Vemex also expects to have 15 stations by 2015.
Volkswagen produces six models that operate on natural gas: Caddy 2.0 EcoFuel, Caddy Maxi EcoFuel 2,0, Touran 1.4 TSI EcoFuel, Passat and Passat Variant 1.4 TSI EcoFuel, as well as its new model eco up!. The company has one of the widest ranges of eco cars available.
