Kerry, Donilon promise U.S. trying to rid relations with Russia of irritants - Lavrov
MOSCOW. April 15 (Interfax) - The United States realizes the seriousness of irritants in Russia-U.S. relations and promises to start eliminating them. Moscow will judge by deeds, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a press conference in Moscow.
"I have heard from [U.S. National Security Advisor] Tom Donilon and [U.S. Secretary of Defense] John Kerry that they understand well the negative impact of a whole range of factors on Russia-U.S. relations. These include the "Magnitsky List", the ongoing problems with Russian children adopted to the U.S., ... problems with the treatment of Russian citizens, abductions of Russian citizens, infringement of their rights and many other things," Lavrov said.
"Both John Kerry and Tom Donilon said that the Obama Administration understood the serious and irritating effect of those things on Russia-U.S. relations and would take measures towards eliminating those irritants. We will judge by deeds, not by words," Lavrov said.
