Putin calls legalization of "soft" drugs dangerous
MOSCOW. June 5 (Interfax) - Any type of drugs, including "soft" ones, must be suppressed, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"The drug dealing business is a breeding ground for organized crime, contraband and illegal immigration. So, we believe all types of drugs must be suppressed," he told the 30th International Drug Enforcement Conference (IDEC XXX) in Moscow on Wednesday.
"We are concerned about "legislative mitigations" in certain countries leading to the legalization of the so-called "soft" drugs. This is a very dangerous path," the president stressed.
