G8 calls on Syria's conflicting parties to oust terrorists

LOUGH ERNE. June 18 (Interfax) - The Syrian authorities and opposition must oust Al Qaeda members and other groupings affiliated to terrorism from their country, the G8 leaders said in their final communique.

"We call on the Syrian authorities and opposition at the Geneva Conference jointly to commit to destroying and expelling from Syria all organizations and individuals affiliated to Al Qaeda, and any other nonstate

actors linked to terrorism," the G8 leaders said.

"We are deeply concerned by the growing threat from terrorism and extremism in Syria, and also by the increasingly sectarian nature of the conflict. Syria must belong to all Syrians, including its minorities and all religious groups,"' the communique says.
