National Welfare Fund may invest 450 billion rubles in infrastructure projects - Putin

ST. PETERSBURG. June 21 (Interfax) - A total of 450 billion rubles from the National Welfare Fund may be invested in infrastructure projects, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2013.

"The restraining of the growth of tariffs should not lead to negative effects such as the reduction of investment in the infrastructure," the president said. "Our key task is to lift many infrastructure restrictions, which are literally stifling the country and are preventing the potential of whole regions from being used," Putin said.

"We have made one very important decision: to invest 450 billion rubles in infrastructure projects which will pay off. Up to half of the National Welfare Fund will be invested in projects on the territory of our country," Putin said.
