U.S. pressure on Russia, China over Snowden can only make Moscow, Beijing closer - Duma deputy

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - The U.S.' threats addressed to Russia and China regarding the U.S. National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden can only strengthen relations between Moscow and Beijing, says Alexei Pushkov, the head of the Russian State Duma international affairs committee.

"The U.S.' threats to Russia and China over the Snowden affair will not bring about any results but will only make Moscow and Beijing closer. Injudicious pressure," Pushkov said on Twitter.

The U.S. said earlier it would seek to secure Snowden's extradition from countries where he could resurface. At the present time, Snowden is supposedly staying in the transit zone of Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport.
