Rosneft eyes possible work in Azerbaijan
MOSCOW. July 26 (Interfax) - Russian oil major Rosneft is studying the possibility of operating in Azerbaijan, a company representative told Interfax.
"At the present time, Rosneft is studying the possibility of working in Azerbaijan. In the event concrete agreements are reached, we will inform the market in the established manner," the source said, not specifying what particular projects might be at issue.
Rosneft President Igor Sechin visited Azerbaijan early this month and met with his counterpart at State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR), Rovnag Abdullayev. Abdullayev said SOCAR is interested in working with Rosneft in the development of deposits both in Azerbaijan and in Russia.
