Aggregate Uzbek bank assets grow 4% in H1
TASHKENT. July 29 (Interfax) - The combined assets of commercial banks in Uzbekistan ended the first half of 2013 up 3.9% from the start of the year at 37.1 trillion sums, a source in governmental circles told Interfax.
Banks' combined credit portfolio was up 4.4% over the period at 21.3 trillion sums and deposits 1.3% at 23.1 trillion sums. Aggregate banking capital increased 1.6% to 6.3 trillion sums.
Twenty-nine commercial banks, including three state banks, four with foreign capital, thirteen incorporated, and nine private banks operate in the Uzbek banking system.
Their combined assets increased 30.2% to 35.7 trillion sums, their aggregate credit portfolio 30.5% to 20.4 trillion sums, and their total banking capital 24.3% to 6.2 trillion sums in 2012.
