Russian Supreme Court to hold appeal hearing in 2nd Khodorkovsky-Lebedev case
MOSCOW. Aug 6 (Interfax) - The Russian Supreme Court will hold a hearing into an appeal contesting the second conviction of Yukos ex-CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky and his former business partner Platon Lebedev on Tuesday.
During the upcoming court session, the legal team representing Khodorkovsky and Lebedev will announce all of the complaints, and the rulings issued by lower courts will be mentioned. The lawyers will ask the court to overturn the previous rulings and release their clients from custody.
Following two trials, Khodorkovsky and Lebedev faced 11 years in prison each. Khodorkovsky's actual sentence is calculated from October 25, 2003, when he was arrested, and Lebedev's sentence is calculated from July 2, 2003.
Khodorkovsky plans to take part in the court session personally via a video link.
