Share of illegal migrants decreases in Moscow - Federal Migration Service
MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - The number of illegal migrants among foreigners being checked has decreased considerably, Head of the Russian Federal Migration Service Department for Moscow Olga Kirillova said.
"I can say about the results of the seven months that the large-scale inspections, currently being held by various agencies, show that not all are violators, while a year or two ago almost one in two was," Kirillova said at a news conference on Friday.
It is necessary to take certain measures to improve the situation, she said.
"We have a long way to go but the situation is improving. It is necessary to create centers and to tighten the law for this," Kirillova said.
"I would like for people with professional training to come to us, not under-the-table labor. It is necessary to create conditions for qualified labor," Kirillova said.
In 2013, inspections were held mainly in regions using a large number of migrants, Kirillova said.
"There was a task to bring order in Moscow - we took major facilities. Thus, the number of facilities checked decreased: 55,000 facilities in 2012 and 31,000 in 2013. But it differs - to check a large market or a private entrepreneur," she said.
"Around 90,000 violations were found in 2012 and 110,000 migration violations in 2013," Kirillova said.
