Criminal case opened into attempt to kidnap, kill banker in Moscow
MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - A criminal case has been opened into an attempt to kidnap and kill the president of Fondservicebank.
"Investigators from the Investigative Committee department for Moscow have opened a criminal case into the fact of organization of and preparations for abduction and murder and also extortion of money from the president of a commercial bank," the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
The committee did not specify the bank's name. Meanwhile, media reported earlier that the killing of Fondservicebank President Alexander Volovnik had been averted by law enforcement agencies.
"We are not commenting on these reports so far. Follow our website," the bank's press service told Interfax earlier.
