Russian investors plan to build wine production plants
TBILISI. Sept 7 (Interfax) - Russian investors are mulling a possibility to build wine enterprises in Georgia, local media reported on Saturday citing Giorgy Seturidze, the head of the Georgian-Russian Economic Cooperation NGO.
"There exist several large investment projects the work on which is almost completed. As for now, I know that two Russian private companies plan to invest dozens of millions on the Georgian wine industry," Seturidze said.
He, however, did not name the companies that intend to invest in Georgia's wine industry.
The Georgian-Russian Economic Cooperation NGO was set up in Tbilisi in 2012 in order to restore and develop Georgian-Russian economic relations.
Russia banned redeliveries of Georgian wines, mineral water and agriculture products in 2006 over quality issues.
Georgia and Russia have agreed on a mechanism of returning Georgian products on the Russian market.
There are no diplomatic relations between Georgia and Russia.
