Dollar, euro edge up against ruble in anticipation of Fed decision
MOSCOW. Sept 18 (Interfax) - The dollar and euro continue to post slight gains against the ruble on the Moscow Exchange.
The ruble is falling slightly against the bi-currency basket as the markets hold their breath ahead of the Federal Reserve's QE3 verdict.
The dollar was up 4.6 kopecks to 32.271 rubles/$1 as of 7:00 p.m. on the Moscow Exchange and the euro was up 6.45 kopecks to 43.0645 rubles/EUR1. The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) gained 5.4 kopecks to 37.13 rubles.
The Central Bank lowered its official dollar rate for tomorrow by 7.87 kopecks to 32.245 rubles/$1 and lowered its euro rate 6.96 kopecks to 32.245 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged down 7.28 kopecks to 32.2576 rubles/$1 in Today deals and, by 7:00 p.m., down 4.69 kopecks to 32.2692 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $4.61 billion, including $1.57 billion Today and $3.039 billion Tom.
The euro was down 8.43 kopecks to 43.0907 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and down 4.98 kopecks to 43.103 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR610.609 million, including EUR309.061 million Today and EUR301.548 million Tom.
The MosPrime Rate for overnight credits fell 1 basis point to 6.37% pa.
